Article review general

The main aim of this systemic review was to collect the evidence for developing most effective methods to prevent falls and also to reduce the incidence of fall in the residential care settings. The intervention care program was mainly based to be implemented on two or more levels of organizations. These levels included organizational level and facility or residential level. The study undertook many underlying factors attributing to the fall in residential care homes. These included, disability in the activities of daily living, cognitive and visual impairments, and strong medications and reduced strength in muscles and joints that lead to impaired balance in these individuals and eventually leading to risky falls (Hanapi, 2017). The study included a total of 4000 participants from over 57 aged care facilities. They were evaluated for both risk preventions as well as for the factors causing those falls. For conducting the study a lot of databases were searched. These data bases included, CENTRAL, JBI, CINHAIL, and MEDLINE and so on. However, PROSPERO, group of systemic research was able to identify for various factors that might be attributing to the fall in elderlies. These databases are the most commonly used search bases for the purpose of fetching healthcare related studies (Lam, 2017). The study included patients that were 65 years and above age. All of these participants were also in an aged care facility for more than 2 hours and were also under supervision of a certified professional. The systemic review also included all types of studies for the research consideration. The types of studies included, randomized trials, controlled trials, qualitative and quantitative trials as well. The study compared the intervention methods complexity with the level of delivery of those intervention in the aged care facilities. The study was mainly conducted for the purpose of evaluating for the outcome measures that can be helpful in preventing falls in the elderlies. These outcomes should be based on multi-factorial analysis basis, in order to provide with a holistic care model to the individuals.

CAT tool for systemic review

The study was clearly able to focus on the main topic to be taken into consideration. The databases chosen for the papers to be evaluated were very apt in terms of the topic selected to be researched upon. The data bases selected are the most apt for the study purpose and can be very helpful in providing with a variety of the research paper. The study criteria was appropriately selected. The study also included all types of study paper including qualitative, quantitative, systemic study and so on. There were ample amount of studies as well as participants were selected for the study purpose. The study however, is still pending to compile with the results collected from the various studies taken into consideration for the study purpose. The results were also aimed at evaluating the measures that can be helpful in getting improved healthcare outcomes from the individuals. The study was based on developing for a future analysis of the data collected from various resources (Choi, 2017). Therefore, the study was not able to conclude for any results from the data collected. Study was inclusive of all of the important outcomes. The study was mainly based on drafted important outcomes for the patients based on the evaluation conducted. The study will be helpful by huge amount in reducing the incidences of fall in the elderlies. This will also be helpful in implementing helpful strategies to help the aged care facilities in finding resolves to reduce fall in the aged care facilities.

Comparison

The study reviewed upon all of the basic components to be evaluated for the study purpose. The study also included a large group of participants for the study purpose. This will be helpful in getting results on a vast scale and in a generalized population. As the study is the basis for future studies to be conducted in this subject, the study failed to produce any fruitful results all together. The use of critical appraisal tool was helpful in segregating the points to be evaluated in a systematic manner. By dividing the sections the use of tool makes it easy to comply with all of the important point that should be taken into consideration for the study purpose (Buccheri, 2017). This was also helpful in highlighting the fact as to what are the strengths and limitations of the study. The tool was also helpful in giving future implications of the study. This can be useful in identifying methods by which study research grounds can be strengthen furthermore. The critical appraisal tool also provides the researcher with an option to methodically check the study, whether each and every set of criteria has been met for the study or not.

Conclusion

The fall is one of the major concern, causing injury in elderlies in aged care facilities. This is one of the main concern directly associated with the advancing age of the individual. Not only fall is major risk factor for aged population, but it also brings about further complications such as fractures, soft tissue injuries and so on. It only adds to the medical burden and thus, prolongs the cost incurred in prolonged bed rest as well. This can also cause prolonged durations of rehabilitation process in these individuals as well. This is bound to cause increased economic cost on the overall healthcare system as well (Trevisan, 2017). The occurrence of fall is a complex situation to deal with, especially in the case of elderlies, as the complications associated with them also increases by multiple folds. They are more vulnerable to fall and the prevention of the same should be more concentrated upon. It is not only the medically associated factors, but also the factors that may be inclusive of the surroundings of the care facilities (Uymaz, 2016). The outcome measures for fall prevention can be based, after dully considering these factors and should also be based on situational analysis as well. A multifactorial fall prevention implementation strategies should be drafted to help in reducing the incidences of the fall and thus, reducing the risk factors associated with the same.
