These straws were replaced by the paper as they were cheap to produce. The manufacturer of the plastic straw and the people who use it never taught what impact it can have on the environment. Being so small the company nor the consumer ever thought that a thing which is small in size can never decompose in the environment (Ilyas et al. 2020). To reduce the negative impact of plastic there was a need to find an alternative solution for it.

Through the company’s portfolio emphasis was put on the hotel's electricity consumption. It was found that the company spend $90 m in a year on energy. That means the electricity consumption of 140 hotels in the UK was high. High energy consumption not only increase carbon footprint in the environment but also decrease non- renewable resources of energy from the environment with the help of which electricity is generated during the peak hours (Wickham et al. 2017). To save the electricity demand, the hotel was asked to cut off its demand and usage. It was very difficult for the company as refrigerators, air conditioners, coolers require a large amount of electricity which thereby increase carbon footprint in the environment.

These issues have a direct impact on hotel operations, design standards, community planning and development (Madar 2017). Company's biggest issue changed in global temperature. This help drives the efforts for energy efficiency. It was experienced that extreme temperature disrupts travel and even damage the property of the organization. This initiative would reduce the use of 1 billion straws that is a total of 90 per cent cut in its usage
